The Story Behind Family Gathering Yellows:

My Family Gathering Series is about family coming together to reconnect and re-establish relationships.

This piece painting is about a family gathering and reconnecting and depicts Aboriginal symbols such as family. The main symbol in the centre depicts the family coming together.

Aboriginal Artist

Bianka Carson

My Aboriginal roots originate from Ceduna, from my grandmother and I was born in Boandik country.  Ceduna tribes include Wirangu, Mirning, Kokatha and Pitjantjatjara tribes. I now know that my language group is Wirangu, and that my grandmother may have also been from the Kokatha tribe. I am very passionate about my cultural heritage. I grew up with many stories around using natural resources and remedies where possible. some stories were around bush medicine and other stories related to the land, animals and spirits. I love painting with bright colours and blending colours together to create different kinds of shades, gradients and patterns within a painting, but it depends on what I feel like painting at the time.- Bianka
