My Aboriginal roots originate from Ceduna, from my grandmother and I was born in Boandik country. Ceduna tribes include Wirangu, Mirning, Kokatha and Pitjantjatjara tribes. I now know that my language group is Wirangu, and that my grandmother may have also been from the Kokatha tribe. I am very passionate about my cultural heritage. I grew up with many stories around using natural resources and remedies where possible. some stories were around bush medicine and other stories related to the land, animals and spirits. I love painting with bright colours and blending colours together to create different kinds of shades, gradients and patterns within a painting, but it depends on what I feel like painting at the time.- Bianka

The Story Behind Muldu:
My new 'Connection' Series is inspired by our connections in life, what is important to us and essentially what makes us, us.
Muldu means country in my grandmothers language. My maternal grandmother came from Ceduna. I was born on Boandik country in Mount Gambier, and have strong connection to Boandik country as I grew up in Bordertown and Mount Gambier. Muldu is my interpretation of the country I live and grew up on. To the right of the painting is Black Fellows Caves, followed by Mount Shank, followed by the Blue Lake in the centre of the painting, with Browns and Valley Lakes joining together (these lakes were originally two separate lakes, but over time the separation has eroded and it is now one large lake). Throughout the piece there are depictions of families, mob, men conducting men's business and women conducting women's business.
