My Aboriginal roots originate from Ceduna, from my grandmother and I was born in Boandik country. Ceduna tribes include Wirangu, Mirning, Kokatha and Pitjantjatjara tribes. I now know that my language group is Wirangu, and that my grandmother may have also been from the Kokatha tribe. I am very passionate about my cultural heritage. I grew up with many stories around using natural resources and remedies where possible. some stories were around bush medicine and other stories related to the land, animals and spirits. I love painting with bright colours and blending colours together to create different kinds of shades, gradients and patterns within a painting, but it depends on what I feel like painting at the time.- Bianka

The Story Behind Wiya:
My new 'Connection' Series is inspired by our connections in life, what is important to us and essentially what makes us, us. Wiya means mother in my grandmother's language. This piece is about the significance and special bond between a mother and her child, or a child and their mother.
