Emu's are everywhere in the Limestone Coast, South Australia. I have always been fascinated by these large native birds and their little head wobble walk. I have many fond memories of walking through the bush with family collecting feathers. The most enjoyable were with my little sister, in the pine forests collecting feathers, pine cones, twigs and leaves, dodging these massive beauties during nesting season. We would often proudly bring home our little collection, which I am sure drove my parents slightly mad.. You'll often see Emu feathers woven into baskets and wall hangings in the Limestone Coast in the Boandik style weave. Their feathers range from small and fluffy to large, flowing and majestic.

My Aboriginal ancestral roots originated from my mother through my grandmother in Ceduna and I was born on Boandik country. Ceduna tribes include Wirangu, Mirning, Kokatha and Pitjantjatjara tribes. My language group is Wirangu. I am very passionate about my cultural heritage. I grew up with many stories around using natural resources and remedies where possible. Some stories were around bush medicine and other stories related to the land, animals and spirits. I love painting with bright colours and blending colours together to create different kinds of shades, gradients and patterns within a painting, but it depends on what I feel like painting at the time.
